Paul McCartney at the Capitol Records convention, Century Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles, 1968.

Capitol people Ken Mansfield and Larry Delaney spent hours and hours with Paul (being completely charmed by him). “He was always so courteous, no matter how hectic it was,” they remember with awe. “He had time for everyone.”

"When we took him to the convention we went through the basement and took an elevator to the 15th floor. We were walking down the hall when one of our promo men from Atlanta popped out of a doorway, spotted Paul, stopped dead, then ran up to him and gave him a big hug and said, ‘Hey man, how are ya, how’s it goin?’ Paul hugged him right back saying, ‘Hey, great to see ya! How’s it goin?’ When the guy finally went on down the hall, we asked Paul if he knew him. Paul said he’d never seen him before."

"One morning, Paul went down to the hotel pool. There was a guy there who was determined not to be impressed by a Beatle. He walked past Paul and said very high handedly, ‘How are you?’ Paul replied, ‘Fine, how are you?’ The guy kept on walking. Paul leaned forward and called out, ‘Hey, you didn’t tell me how you were!’ Broke everyone up.

I love him soooo much

So if I ever see Paul I’m just gonna go rightahead and give him a big hug as if I know him personally haha

Oh, the plight of being Paul McCartney’s brother. It’s a tough gig.

Let’s just take a moment to remember the best best man ever.. Paul McCartney.

“People say time heals, but I don’t know about this one,” says old friend Joe Flannery, who ran into McCartney recently. “I said, ‘I’m sorry about Linda,’ and Paul reached his right hand over and touched his left shoulder with a sad smile and said, ‘She’s with me all the time.’”

(From the article Remembering Linda / People magazine, December 1998)
I remember one interview with Paul where was saying he dreaded going back to a fish & chip shop because whenever they’d gone to town for Linda’s treatments he’d make it a ‘day out’ and they’d get some food. And he dreaded returning because he’d always said ‘for two’ and now it was only for one… The interviewer said she just wanted to hug him. And so do I.
